The Guardians of Ravenwood

On Halloween night, Lucas and Mia approached Ravenwood Manor, an abandoned estate whose new owner had hired them to investigate the strange lights and voices reported inside. They had spent years joking about becoming ghost hunters. Now the cracked windows and black towers made the idea feel much less amusing.

Inside, doors opened before they touched them. Portraits seemed to follow their movements, and a bell rang from a room that no longer had a bell. Yet the spirits never attacked. Instead, every apparition tried to lead them toward the manor library.

Hidden behind a bookcase they found plans showing tunnels beneath Ravenwood. The owner had unknowingly begun renovations above an ancient sealed chamber. Something darker than a ghost had been trapped there for generations.

The apparitions were former members of the Ravenwood family. They had remained in the manor to guard the seal. As midnight approached, cracks spread across the stone floor and a freezing shadow rose from below.

Lucas and Mia followed the instructions left in the family journal. They restored four iron symbols around the chamber and relit the old hearth. The shadow shrieked, then vanished beneath the floor as the seal closed again.

At sunrise, the manor was silent. The owner never saw another ghost. Lucas and Mia did — once, in an upstairs window, where a row of pale figures watched them leave and bowed in thanks.
